What the Project Delivers
Each participating school benefits from:
-
Half-termly workshops for four classes, providing each child with six hours of food-based learning.
-
A curriculum that covers:
-
What is a healthy diet? – What can we add to our diets to supercharge our health.
-
Gut microbiome – What is it, where is it and what role does it play within our bodies
-
The power of colourful foods – How different colours support the body.
-
The immune system – Building resilience through nutrition.
-
The gut-brain axis – Exploring the link between food our emotions.
-
-
Regular exposure to 70+ fruits, vegetables, seeds, and pulses, ensuring children have the opportunity to taste, explore, and become familiar with a wide variety of foods in a fun, non-pressurised environment.
At Nourish to Flourish, we are passionate about supporting children's and families' health and well-being. Our mission is simple: to empower, educate, and inspire children to make positive food choices that support a happy, healthy life. Through our revolutionary programmes, we:
-
Transform attitudes towards food – making nutritious eating fun and accessible.
-
Support families – helping children with restrictive eating develop confidence around food.
-
Deliver hands-on workshops – from creative food art to practical cookery sessions.
Empowering children and families to build a healthier future
The Incredible Edible Project
The Incredible Edible Project is the result of nearly a decade of work delivering creative food-focused workshops in schools across the North West. In 2022, inspired by the significant impact a single session had on children's attitudes towards fresh, colourful fruits, vegetables, and whole foods, we launched a pilot programme. We wanted to explore the longer-term benefits of engaging with the same children throughout the academic year.
To test this approach, we self-funded a pilot scheme at Dee Point Primary School (Blacon, Chester) in 2022/2023. The results from this pilot, which demonstrated meaningful changes in children's food choices and attitudes, can be viewed [here] (insert clickable link to pilot paper).
The success of this pilot supported our funding applications, allowing us to expand the project into five local schools. Thanks to generous funding from the Westminster Foundation and Chester Bluecoat Charity, we are now delivering this initiative to 600 children. To ensure measurable impact, we are collaborating with researchers from Chester University, who are tracking the outcomes of the project.

Our Approach
We believe that transforming children's attitudes towards healthy food starts with education, empowerment, and positive experiences. By equipping children with knowledge, curiosity, and confidence, we help them make informed food choices that support lifelong health.
